  • Providing indoor & outdoor (city-wide) Wireless Gigabit internet service for just £30 per month.
  • Angie is building proprietary large scale next-generation fibre-fed wireless networks to make “Virtual Fibre To The Home” and Gigabit connectivity a reality.
  • Angie brings ubiquitous and seamless wireless Gigabit connectivity directly to end users under its Wireless Extremebrand.

London, UK – 3 August 2016 - Angie Networks Ltd, part of the world’s largest telecom start-up Angie Communications International, today announced its plans to bring Gigabit wireless connectivity to the borough of Slough from November 2016. Angie has signed agreements in place to start preparing Slough to become the world’s first fully-functioning ultra-intelligent town, with the launch of its own ultra-fast gigabit wireless broadband network.

Angie has now finalised its planning and design for Slough’s 12 square miles. The company will utilise existing fibre infrastructure, owned by large fibre and communications operators in the United Kingdom, to build new fibre infrastructure deeper into all Slough neighbourhoods off existing infrastructure. The last hundred feet or so will be done through wireless technology to reach into homes and businesses. This ultra-densification of fibre and wireless in the entire city will result in unique fibre-fed wireless Gigabit services in and around homes and businesses. Slough will be the first area in the UK to benefit from this kind of next-generation communications infrastructure.

With the launch of its pre-sales programme, Angie emphasises the imminent launch of a borough-wide wireless gigabit broadband network. The company is now allowing early adopters to lock in wireless Gigabit service in the Slough for just £30per month for 12, 24 or 36 months. The programme is for a limited time only, after which prices will double. The pre-sales effort is tied to a completely risk-free guarantee and is primarily meant to create a dedicated group of enthusiasts, the so-called Extreme Pioneers.

Wireless Extreme is a new way of ultra-high-speed indoor and outdoor (city-wide) connectivity, using your own devices - at up to 1 Gigabit speeds. The Wireless Extreme service is also a less expensive, more convenient alternative for current cable or DSL and even Fibre services.

With Wireless Extreme, a new era in the world of electronic communications has dawned. For the first time in history customers can get unrestricted and unlimited internet data at up to 1 Gigabit per second while on the move as well as at home or at the office. Since there are no wires involved, Wireless Extreme subscribers can get the same reliable Gigabit connectivity at home, at work, at the restaurant and all around town. This is made possible by the most advanced, next generation, Wi-Fi technologies that are built in ultra-dense networks that are directly linked to Angie’s fibre optic network.

Slough will see its first large scale deployment finalised by year end. Angie’s rollout is expected to take pace really fast, with certain surrounding populated areas following next. Over the course of 2017, Angie will roll out nationwide.

To get to this point in Angie’s strategy, more than 150,000 hours have been invested. “What the Angie team and its partnershave achieved is simply astounding,” said Neal Lachman, Group CEO, “the last revolutionary telecommunications access infrastructure that was introduced to residential users was Fibre-To-The-Home, in which my colleagues and I have played a pioneering role. Now we are again introducing gigabit connectivity at the access level, but this time it will be done wirelessly – we call this Virtual-Fibre-To-The-Home." Angie announced that the Wireless Extreme Gigabit service is also available forHome Offices and Small/Medium Businesses.

Slough Borough Council signed a memorandum of understanding with Angie Networks on 24 June, where the latter intents to make Slough the first fully functional Wireless Gigabit and Smart City in the world, bringing fibre-fed wireless connectivity and Smart City solutions to Slough residents and businesses. Although not an exclusive agreement or contract, the document formally sets out the council’s intention to support Angie Networks in building the infrastructure needed to bring wireless Gigabit to Slough.

“We have been speaking with Angie Networks and are supportive of their plans to get the project up and running in Slough, said Leo Tarring, a Slough council spokesman, “There is a memorandum of understanding between us. While this is not a formal 'deal' or contract, and the council is not investing any money into the project at this stage, we think this is an exciting prospect for Slough.”

“Angie is working closely with Slough to bring cutting edge technology to Slough and its surrounding area. Slough is strategically placed as a leading business hub here in the UK,” says Bob Snowden, CEO UK, “Angie will finance the entire project, ensuring that Slough will have all the benefits and none of the financial or operational risks. Slough got the best deal possible for its residents and businesses.”

Nick Vat, digital transformation manager for Slough Borough Council, said: “Aside from the obvious benefits to people of having access to industrial strength wireless broadband, this will enable Slough to become the first wireless Gigabit city and a truly smart city, a hotbed of opportunity where citizens and businesses can harness cutting edge technology for a vast number of uses. The council will be leading the way. We are already looking at ways we can use digital technology to provide better, more efficient services, whether that’s waste collection, healthcare or traffic management.”

The pre-sales program for Slough concerns internet connectivity at home, at the office or anywhere in the city. “Everything about Wireless Extreme is unique. With Wireless Extreme appearing on the scene, a new era in the world of electronic communications has dawned,” said Bob Chatta, COO Europe, “The “follow me” network is now becoming a reality: you can subscribe to the Wireless Extreme service and we’ll promise you unrestricted and unlimited Gigabit wireless access anytime, anywhere, anyhow – in all our rolled out markets."

“As soon as Wireless Extreme has been rolled out in your neighbourhood or city, you don’t need to be attached to a cable or wire,” said Diepak Kasi, CEO Netherlands and an advisor to Bob Snowden, the CEO UK, “Most providers aren’t able to deliver Gigabit speeds over their existing networks or systems, let alone through wireless access means. They also can’t have you online, and up and running, within a few minutes. For example, when you move, you have to wait for weeks before you can get connected, and even if you would be so lucky to get a Gigabit service today, you don’t have the Gigabit connection available everywhere, because you are tied to a wire or cable. With Angie’s Wireless Extreme service, these restrictions and limitations disappear.”

Angie’s Wireless Extreme network infrastructure will include the latest wireless technologies, including carrier-class Wi-Fi technology. In each neighbourhood, outdoor wireless access points will be directly connected to Angie’s fibre optic network, strengthened by many street level access points. Industry experts are well aware that future data demand cannot be satisfied without such an ultra-dense wireless infrastructure, which needs to be fibre-fed. Only fibre backhaul (with multiple terabits per second connectivity) can handle the upcoming exponential growth of mobile and wireless data usage. Angie’s wireless network is built as beyond 5G-ready; due to the connection on Angie’s virtually unlimited fibre capacity, its network is 5G-primed - intelligent, connected, wired and wireless.
