Threads of Innovation: Exploring Smart Textiles

2019 – 2020

This project, inspired by the “DeltaV” research, brings the exciting frontier of smart textiles directly to UAL design students. Through a series of engaging workshops, participants are challenged to rethink the very definition of “smart textiles” and discover their transformative potential in costume design.

From rapid prototyping exercises that spark creative exploration to in-depth soft-circuit programming, students will gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies. They will learn how to integrate electronics, sensors, and interactive elements into their designs, blurring the lines between fashion and technology.

“Threads of Innovation” empowers the next generation of designers to push the boundaries of their craft, envisioning costumes that respond to the wearer, the environment, or even tell a story. Join us and weave technology into the fabric of your creative practice.
