Your Camp, Your Adventure
Designing a self-directed programme resource for large-scale camp delivery
Alongside leading a camp for 400 young people within UK Scouting, I developed “Your Camp, Your Adventure”, a concept resource designed to give participants greater ownership of their experience.
The aim was to move beyond a centrally dictated programme and create a framework that allowed young people to shape their own journey across the weekend.
My role
I conceived, designed and delivered the resource end to end.
This included strategy, content development, visual design and production. Alongside this, I was responsible for the wider camp delivery, embedding the resource into the overall experience.
Approach
I treated the project as a product design cycle.
Using experience design principles and my knowledge of the scouting programme services, I developed a modular card-based system aligned to activity zones and themes.
Each card introduced an activity, challenge or idea. Together, they formed a flexible framework that enabled young people to curate their own pathway while remaining aligned with the values and structure of scouting.
A supporting library of session plans allowed leading to facilitate activities consistently and confidently.
Outcome
The result was a scalable programme resource delivered digitally and in physical card format.
It created a balance between freedom and structure, empowering young people to shape their own adventure within a clearly designed framework.
